Dear Healthcare Professional,

It is an understatement to say that things are moving faster than ever in health care. And no one knows that better than you. Keeping your practice financially healthy and staying on top of what's happening in the pharmaceutical industry is also more difficult and time consuming than ever. As the supplier of your practice's biggest expense and trading partner to big pharma and group purchasing organizations like Oncology Associates, we want to do everything we can to keep you abreast of important developments that affect your practice. That's why were are please to introduce the first installment of our new e-newsletter, Inside the Pipeline to you this month.

Inside The Pipeline will bring you regular features focusing on big pharma, new products soon to be launched, products in late stage trials, mergers and acquisitions, new contract pricing and, did I mention, price increases. We'll also try to keep you updated on important manufacturer back-orders and releases, allocations, and recalls.

We'll give you a personal look at some of the people who serve you on a regular basis and highlight healthcare professionals from around the country.

We hope you will be pleased and ask for your comments and suggestions on how we can make Inside the Pipeline more useful.

On 07/13/2010, CMS lowered the bar for providers who are concerned about qualifying for federal incentive payments linked to the implementation of Electronic Health Records. The guidelines will apply in 2011 and 2012 as the transition to EHR's is instituted. Rather than instituting technology for technology's sake, the original guidelines aimed to set standards thought to impel providers to improve patient care. However, public input has led CMS to relax the standards to qualify for the incentive from 75% e-prescribing to 40% e-prescribing and reduced the number of benchmarks from 25 to 14.

With the "doc fix" For Medicare payments now only extended to this November, it can only put further pressure on physician offices who have seen their payments held, reduced and now reinstated, as they contemplate the costs associated with moving to Electronic Health records.
